Deveret LeRoy Roach

September 4, 1939 — July 2, 2017

Devert LeRoy (LeRoy) Roach Sr. passed away at home after a long illness on July 2, 2017.LeRoy was born September 4, 1939 in Versailles, Kentucky to Johnny and Lucy Roach.LeRoy grew up and at the age of 21 met the love of his life and mother of his children Geraldine Schuh. The couple married June 15th, 1961 and lived in Rising Sun, Indiana. LeRoy made an honest living dairy farming and growing tobacco. They grew and moved the family from the 250 acre dairy farm in Indiana to Wyoming in 1978 where LeRoy worked over 30 years in mining at Eagle Butte; drilling and blasting and operations. He had countless awards from Amax Coal and was known for the hard work, overtime, immaculate attendance and a lunchbox full of sweets that the grandchildren speak of fondly, and stole as often as they could when papal got home from the mine.LeRoy was known for being the life of the party, always spending time with the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; giving each and every person he knew a memory or a nick name that will never be forgotten. LeRoy can be described as a workaholic, busy body, and known to pull a fast one over on anyone. There are many cherished memories of LeRoy from all family and friends. A prayer often read was A Cowboy's Prayer: " Heavenly Father, I pause, mindful of the many blessings You have bestowed upon me. I ask that you will guide me in my life. Help me, Lord to live my life in such a manner that when I make that last ride to the country up there where the grass grows lush and the water runs cool that You'll take me by the hand and say Welcome Home Cowboy" There was also numerous songs sang to him from grandchildren and children with LeRoy's favorite "Amazing Grace". Whether it was the young ones learning their wrongs out in the field digging sage brush on the family ranch; or LeRoy telling you how it was and would be, or getting to put your name on the concrete after a fresh pour, helping at the ranch with fencing, roofing or any work that needed done. LeRoy always included anyone into his life and treated everyone as his own.LeRoy is survived by his wife of 56 years; Geraldine Roach of Rozet, Wyoming.
