A Celebration of Life for Ruth Mankin will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Family Life Church with Kenna Rose officiating. Ruth Mankin age 88 passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Close to Home Hospice in Gillette, Wyoming of cancer. Ruth was born on December 12, 1928 to Leo and Gladys (Fear) Ridenour in Rozet, Wyoming. She grew up on the family ranch in Rozet, attended elementary school in Rozet; and graduated from Campbell County High School in May 1946. She was baptized at age 9 into the Presbyterian Church in Rozet. On April 9, 1946, Ruth married James Richard Mankin, and the couple lived south of Gillette on the Mankin Ranch. Ruth was a housewife and raised their five children; John, Jerry, Gene, Jannelle, and James. She had many interests and hobbies including; painting, gardening, furniture refinishing, sewing and crafts. She was also an avid reader, awesome baker and a community volunteer for numerous organizations including preparing meals for Soup Kitchen, County Fair and funerals. Ruth was a polio survivor and had to learn to walk again all the while raising three children. Ruth loved God and her family; she and James were married 60 years at the time of James passing in April 2006. She was a strong believer in Jesus Christ and had witnessed many miracles in her life, and she was an inspiration to many. Ruth was also a member of Gillette Women's Bowling League, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for 64 years, Homemaker Clubs of Wyoming for 65 years, Savageton Homebuilders Club for 65 years, and also Campbell County Woolgrower's Auxiliary. Ruth is survived by her children; John (Jeanie), Gene (Kristy), Jerry, Jannelle, James (Tammy), grandchildren; Marcia (Jeff), Erin (Jim), Justin (Monique), Weston (Madison), Brooke, Layce, Harlie, Triston, and great-grandchildren; Catherine, Ethan, Luke, Sean, Erik, Parker, Austin, Easton, Edi, James and Brylee. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made in Ruth's name to benefit the Campbell County Healthcare Foundation, Savageton Home Builders, or Beta Sigma Phi Kappa Master.
