Memorial services for Oscar West will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 25th at Gillette Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Donnie Edwards officiating; inurnment to follow in Rocky Point, Wyoming.Oscar Roy West, age 67, of Gillette, Wyoming died April 19, 2017 in his home. He was born to Roy Bruce and Frances Helen West on September 26, 1949 in Gillette, Wyoming. Oscar grew up on his family ranch at Rocky Point, Wyoming. He graduated from Hulett High school in 1968 and worked on this father's ranch until April of 1969 when he volunteered to join the United States Marine Corps. Oscar was stationed in California and Okinawa, Japan. After serving in the Marine Corps, he worked for Campbell County School District as a welder. Oscar married Marva Sander in 1973 and then moved to Belle Creek, Montana to work in the oil field. He worked for Gary Energy for 9 1/2 years and then moved to Hays, Kansas. After two years in Hays, Oscar and his family moved back to Gillette where he worked as a pumper and roustabout for nearly 30 years. He retired from RJM Energy. Oscar is survived by two sisters: Lois Richards of Gillette, Wyoming; Debbie Lundquist of Polson, Montana; one brother, Doug West of Rocky Point, Wyoming; two children: daughter Sonya Peterson of Gillette, Wyoming; son Nathaniel West of Lewis, Colorado; and five grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, golf, and spending time with family and friends. Memorials and condolences may be sent in care of Gillette Memorial Chapel 210 West 5th Street, Gillette, WY 82716.
