Evelyn Christine (Laur) Worman gained her angel's wings on March 29, 2017 in Loveland, CO surrounded by her loving family and the exceptional medical team at Rocky Mountain Medical Center. She was born on June 12, 1932 to Ben (Bernard) G. and Ruth V. (Lorang) Laur in Gillette, WY. She was the oldest of 3 children. As a teenager she worked as a fountain girl at Edelman's Drug in Gillette. She attended Campbell County School systems and developed a love for music. In school she participated in choir and learned to play many instruments including the piano, French horn, accordion, and the saxophone. She graduated from Campbell County High School in 1950. It was during high school that she met the love of her life, Lee Worman. In the 1949 Camel yearbook Lee professed his love for her with the following: "I Lee Worman, will my good natured self to Evelyn Laur until death do us part." On August 30, 1949 she married Lee. To this union four children were born. They lived in Gillette where Evelyn was a mother and homemaker while she worked at the Gillette Bakery. It was the bakery experience where she developed a love for baking and cooking. She attended a Cake Decorating School in Kansas City where she refined her skills as a baker. Even while she was working, she stayed active in the community by volunteering in many organizations. She was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout Leader, Sunday school teacher, a member of the First Presbyterian Church Choir, served as the church organist/pianist, and was an active member of Pedal Pushers Garden Club. Evelyn and Lee were dedicated to their family and community. The dedication to family went beyond their immediate family. They were willing to help any family, friend, or stranger who may need a little extra help. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, boating, camping, and fishing. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, needlework, knitting and crocheting. Evelyn had a natural talent for becoming proficient in all her endeavors. She loved being with her family and friends and would invite them to participate in her activities. The one talent that most people will remember her for, was her ability to bake and create beautiful wedding/birthday cakes, pies, and cookies. One of the hidden secrets of her butter cream frosting was that she always used Holly powdered sugar. No other brand of powdered sugar was acceptable. Her family would have to go to various grocery stores to obtain the "best" powdered sugar. There were other secrets to this delicious frosting and it was all done by Evelyn's taste buds.Evelyn and Lee enjoyed traveling on their own as well as with family and friends. On one extended family trip, several bystanders counted the number of people exiting the automobile, a total of 9 including 4 adults and 5 children. As her children grew she began to work in businesses as well as continue with her baking skills. She worked at Gillette Greenhouse arranging flowers and pursued her own ambition as a rose and gardening enthusiast. She worked as a bookkeeper at Farmer's Coop Association until her retirement. She was an active member and officer in the Daughters of Nile, Rebekah, Eastern Star, The Presbyterian Women's Organization, and Camel Lane's Bowling League. She also volunteered in many organizations around the Gillette Community. One of the activities she enjoyed was visiting the sick in the hospital and bringing prayer and faith to those in need.Evelyn is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Lee, daughter Pam Bishop, son Darryl and Vicki Worman, daughter Karen and Arthur Bailey, and son Russ and Debbie Worman. Ten grandchildren, Stephanie Bishop, James Bishop, Phillip Worman, Eric Worman, Brett Worman, Kristi Altenburg, Evan Bailey, Alyssa Bailey, Cassie King, and Chrissy Walker and 12 great grandchildren.
