Memorial service for Earl "Terry" Eckard will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 3, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Jared Tucher officiating. Terry Eckard, 74, of Gillette returned to his Heavenly Father Monday, March 27, 2017 surrounded by his family and friends. Terry was born September 5, 1942 in Hickory, North Carolina to Lawrence and Zelda Eckard. He spent his time growing up in Thermopolis, Wyoming until 1959 when he entered the Navy. Terry was stationed at Moffett Field Naval Base. Terry met the love of his life, Cheryl Collins, in 1964. They married on December 21, 1965 in Greeley, Colorado. Following their marriage, they resided in Hickory, North Carolina for the next 7 years. Their first child, Terry, was born there in 1972. They moved to Gillette in 1972 where Terry began working in the oil field. Their second child, Tamara, was born in 1974. Terry continued is work in the oilfield for multiple companies and retired in 2017. Terry had a passion for his work in the oilfield. Terry was a man of faith and family. Terry was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with family and attending his grandchildren's activities while smiling and cheering all the time. Terry deeply enjoyed camping and traveling with his wife. Terry is survived by his life-long love of 52 years, Cheryl; his children Terry and Molly Eckard of Sheridan, Rich and Tamara Blesi of Gillette; grandchildren Kameron, Jakob, Andrea, Kaitlynn and Lilly; sister Pat (Walt) Dold, brother Larry (Bobbi) Eckard; nieces, nephews and many friends of a lifetime. In lieu of flowers, family is requesting memorials be made in his name to the Heptner Cancer Center or McNanneman Park.
