Venita Lara

Mass of Christian Burial for Venita Lara, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2016 at St. Matthews Catholic Church with Father Cliff Jacobson officiating; interment to follow at Mount Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2016 with a Vigil starting at 7:00p.m. at Gillette Memorial Chapel. Venita Lara age 42, of Gillette, WY died Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, WY. Venita Alicia Verlinda Lara was born the daughter of Peggy Sue Lara on May 6, 1974 in Newcastle, WY. Venita was raised and educated in Gillette, WY. She attended Campbell County schools, graduating from CCHS in May 1993. She was devoted to and loved her family. Venita worked hard to support her two children; Cenina Pilar and Deryk Wayne Lara. She was a member of the congregation at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. Venita began working at 15 years old for local businesses such as McDonald's, Kmart and Golden Corral. Employment opportunities eventually led her to CCSD (North Campus) until 2003. Due to medical circumstances she was no longer able to continue working. She then resided in Casper with her Aunt Vickie and Uncle Kerry due to illness. From the time Venita was young she enjoyed roller skating, driving through town listening to her favorite music, visiting family and friends, watching movies, attending her son's baseball games, but most of all; spending as much time as she could with her children and grandson Julian. Venita is survived by her two children; Cenina Pilar Lara, Deryk Wayne Lara, grandson; Julian Manuel Lara and Kerry and Vickie Barker. She is preceded in death by her mother; Peggy S. Lara, sister; Celina P. Lara, maternal grandparents, several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Those who knew Venita well knew her as "Bean." She loved and will be loved forever.
