Funeral Service to Rick Whittlesey will be held 2:30 p.m., Friday, September 30, 2016 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Bodin officiating. Visitation will take place Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home. It is with deep, and heavy sadness that we announce the death of Rick E. Whittlesey who passed on Sunday, September 25, 2016 suddenly of a heart attack in his home in Gillette, Wyoming. He was born July 11, 1948 in Chariton, Iowa, one of three children. Rick and his loving wife of 45 years, Peggy, were high school sweethearts. They were married July 10, 1971 in Wolf Point, Montana and have three children, Eric, Angela and Christina.He attended school in Chinook, Montana, graduated high school in Wolf Point and attended Eastern Montana College in Billings. He served in the United States Army from August 21, 1968 until being honorably discharged on June 1, 1970. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served as a military policeman and was awarded several metals, badges and bars.He was employed as an assistant manager for Holeman GM Diesel in Billings, Montana until 1977 when he was promoted to a new branch as manager in Gillette, Wyoming. In the early 80's, he also worked for Davis Chevrolet (currently White's Frontier Motors), as a sales associate and remained there until he retired in 2013.Some of his favorite pastimes included bowling, golfing, softball and faithfully attending his children's sporting events. Spending time with his children and grandchildren gave him great pleasure. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and provider for his family. He was known to be a kind and gentle soul, who was honest, caring and trustworthy.He was proceeded in death by his parents Ralph and Betty, father-in-law Tony Hanel, brother-in-law Jerry Hanel and nephew Brad Hanel. Rick is survived by his wife Peggy, son Eric and his wife Mindy, daughter Angela Shippy and her husband Danny and children Tyler and Hayley, and daughter Christina Moran and her son Liam, brother Don and his wife Sandy, sister Kathy and husband Dave, 4 nieces, 3 nephews and many other relatives and friends. The family requests that memorials be made in Rick's name to Home Town Veterans Fund.
