Funeral service for Donna L. Besel will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 30, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Jared Tucher officiating; interment to follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will take place 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Gillette Memorial Chapel. Donna Louise Besel age 81, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Pioneer Manor. Donna was born on January 6, 1935 in Shepherd, MT to Ida (Goldy) and Henry Benner. She attended school in Montana and graduated from Flathead High School, Kalispell, MT in 1953. Donna married the love of her life Jack Besel on November 6, 1954. The couple raised five children together. Donna's main occupation in life was being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She also worked as a grocery store clerk and picked cherries in Kalispell, MT; she was a telephone operator in Billings, MT; and, worked at the Ten Spot Caf in Miles City, MT. Donna had many hobbies which included: her love for writing and reading poetry; her love for growing beautiful roses and flowers; she enjoyed painting picture frames; and, sewing doll dresses for Dress-A-Doll contests in which she won many awards. Most of all Donna loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Donna had a great faith in God, and was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was also a volunteer at Close to Home Hospice. Donna is survived by her children; Daniel Glen (Robbie) Besel of Cortez, CO, Leonard Dean (Shelly) Besel, Steven Wayne Besel, Diana Jane (Montie) Means, and Glenda Jean (Warren) Brown all of Gillette, WY, brothers; Ben (Lynelle) Benner of Anaconda, MT and Raymond Benner of Billings, MT, sisters; Jeannine Wagner of Billings, MT and Hatti (Gerry) Stahlberg of Kalispell, MT, along with 15 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Donna is preceded in death by her husband; Jack Besel, parents; Henry and Ida Benner, brothers; Carl Benner, George Benner, Stanley Benner, Rodney Benner, and Donald Benner. The family requests that memorials be made in Donna's name to Close to Home Hospice, Trinity Lutheran Church or Pioneer Manor.
