Funeral services for Loren Simpson will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 11, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church in Gillette, WY with Pastor Susan Reichenberg officiating, with interment to follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Rozet, WY. Visitation will take place Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Gillette Memorial Chapel. Loren Howard Simpson, age 73, of Rozet, Wyoming died on September 5th, 2016 at his home, of natural causes. Loren Simpson was born October 7, 1942 to John H. "Jack" and Hilda Raudsep Simpson in Gillette, Wyoming. He came home to the Wagonhammer ranch north of Gillette. He moved with his family to the Kohns ranch in 1947. He went to rural schools through eighth grade; and to high school in Moorcroft and graduated from high school in 1960 as valedictorian of his class. During his high school years he was active in FFA and was a state FFA officer. After graduating from high school, Loren attended the University of Wyoming for two years. He then enlisted in the Wyoming National Guard and served with the guard for four years. After completing his basic training with the guards he returned to Campbell County and did contract farming for various ranches. He worked for DRM Construction doing maintenance for several years. He lived the remainder of his life at his home in Rozet. Loren was an avid University of Wyoming Cowboy fan, he loved to play cards, and his passion was machinery and equipment, especially John Deere. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, and brother-in-law. He is survived by stepson Todd Foulkes, stepdaughter Kimberly Oswalt, stepsons Robin & Ray Cumpton, sisters Hilda Ann Brimmer, Kay Rene (Leroy) Jones, Cheri (George) Faris, and Lois (Marlon) Schlup, and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special companion, his dog Bear. A memorial fund to Pleasant Valley Cemetery has been established.
