He graduated from Cheyenne Central High School. He was always drawn to the rural lifestyle of agriculture and cowboys. He got a degree in agriculture from the University of Wyoming. One of the famous forays there was a trip to Ft Collins to rescue the kidnapped pony, Cowboy Joe. During those years, he was a passionate fan of the football, basketball and wrestling teams and cultivated friendships among all. After graduating in 1962, he moved to Clovis NM where he worked for family members, in a cattle processing businessbranding many cattle that moved on to feed lots and grazing operations. In 1963, he came back to Laramie where he continued schooling to get a teaching credential and to get married. He and Georgia Ellen Miles were married June 2, 1963 in Casper WY. They continued school in Laramie until finishing with teaching credentials in the spring of 1964. Milt was the ag instructor and FFA advisor in Moorcroft for the next two years. He then began working for the Farmer's Home Administration as loan supervisor. The first 2 years of that career were in Afton WY followed by a transfer to Gillette. Like many in the Gillette community, he never left. He worked several years with the FHA, then had several ventures in various businesses. He worked as a realtor, beginning with the Clayton and Donna Jerred and followed by other offices in which he was a partner. He ran a pawn shop for a while then ended his working time as a real estate appraiser.Milt continued to be a passionate sports fan of the Green Bay Packers, L.A. Dodgers, and L.A. Lakers. It was typical for him to come into someone's home and change the TV so he could stay current with his team. He saw an early satellite dish as a necessity. Elk hunting in the fall was a lifetime passion of his. He met and admired outfitter friends in the Jackson area and loved being in the back country and helping to guide hunters.Through family connections and those times in Clovis and Laramie, Milt had a desire to be in the cattle business and pursued that for a time.He was drawn to the rodeo team friends at UW and after some forays with bareback horses there, he began team roping after graduating. The roping events and friends were important to him during the remainder of his active years. He participated in rodeos all over the west and won numerous awards while winning money at many of the "big ones". A particular highlight was winning the Sheridan WYO Rodeo with his good friend R.G. Kekich. He enjoyed several trips the Sr. Pro National Finals Rodeo as well. It was through one of these rodeo friends that he became interested in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints or Mormon Church. He was baptized and later sealed to his wife and family in the Salt Lake Temple. Membership in the church was very important to him and he actively participated in leadership as well as family activities there. His family has huge gratitude for the staff at Pioneer Manor in Gillette and others who have cared for him and helped to make these final years the best that they could be.He was preceded in death by his parents Curtis B. and Mary V.
