Elvira was born October 24, 1934 to Charles "Jack" Hoover and Luella Bricker Hoover in Gillette, Wyoming. She graduated from Campbell County High School in 1953 and set off on her adventure, living in California, Oklahoma, Kansas and then moving to North Dakota. She met her first husband, Allen Lysne, working at the Mercy Hospital as a secretary in the x-ray department in Devils Lake, North Dakota. They were married in Buffalo, Wyoming and from this union they had one daughter, Denise. They later divorced and Elvira moved back to Gillette and married Wilbur Spelts. While Elvira was living in North Dakota, she attended Devils Lake Junior College receiving her Associates Degree in Business. In 1977 she went to work for Stockman's bank as a bookkeeper until 1987 when the bank closed. She loved life, camping in her motorhome, people, a good joke and gambling in Deadwood with her friends and family. She was a strong-willed lady who never gave up or in, which she proved by learning to swim in her late sixties when she was deathly afraid of the water. She is survived by her daughter Denise Spelts (Marty Brown), grandson Joseph Spelts (Dani) great granddaughters Phoebe and Sophia Spelts. She was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Grandparents, Wilber Spelts and numerous Aunts and Uncles. The family requests that memorials be made in Elvira's name to Pioneer Manor Activities.
