Funeral service for Ruth Blake will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Gillette Memorial Chapel with Pastor Marty Crump officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Gillette Memorial Chapel. Ruth Louise (Hanhardt) Blake was born on October 15, 1929 to Alex and Margaret (Fritzler) Hanhardt in Bison, Kansas. She grew up and graduated from high school in Bison. Growing up Ruth enjoyed many things including going to Ice Cream Socials. She helped her family any way she could, including driving a farm tractor. Shortly after high school she started her dream of having a family. She wanted nothing more in life than to have a family. In 1956, she moved with her family to Aztec, New Mexico looking for work. Later in 1968 they moved to Gillette, WY to go to work in the oil fields. Ruth decided in 1969 to marry the love of her life, Delbert Blake and merge two families into one very big loving family. Ruth had many hobbies including; crocheting, ceramics and reading. Ruth was also a huge Denver Bronco fan and rarely missed a game. Ruth also loved to travel. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving, which allowed her to prepare a meal for her family and anyone that would share the day with her. Ruth is survived by her children; Larry (Dianne) Dayhoff, Margaret (Arnold) Holyoak, Randy (Carol) Dayhoff, Mark (Deborah) Blake, Jim (Sharon) O'Brien, Mike O'Brien, Caroline (Joe) Schnieder, Vonda (Dan) Jordan, and Delores Fransin, 41 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband; Delbert, daughter; Margie, stepsons; Aaron Blake and Andrew Blake, grandson; Trevor O'Brien, her parents; two brothers; Harold and Raymond and sister; Lavina. Memorials can be made in Ruth's name to Close to Home Hospice House for families that can't afford the stay.
