A funeral service for Kenneth Edward Osborne will be at 10:00am Friday, July 8, 2016 at Family Life Church with Pastor Martin Crump officiating. A luncheon and fellowship will follow the service at Family Life Church with burial at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery at 1:00pm. Military Honors provided by American Legion Post 42 Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Walker Funeral Home. Kenneth E. Osborne, age 75, of Gillette, Wyoming passed away on July 2, 2016 at Close to Home Hospice House after a long battle with Renal Cell and Pancreatic Cancers.Kenneth "Kenny" Edward Osborne was born April 30, 1941 in Big Timber, Montana, the son of Walter H. and Kathryn (Zindler) Osborne. Kenny graduated from Sweet Grass County High school in 1959 and went on to join the U.S. Navy. His service for our country included tours of duty as an electricians mate, 3rd class, on the USS Redfish and the USS Perch submarines. After his honorable discharge from the Navy in 1964, Kenny went to work in Dillon, MT hauling hay. There he bought two trucks and had his first grown-up enterprise. In 1966 Kenny joined a road construction crew for Peter Kewitt & Sons with his dad, Walt. Following were additional earth construction and oilfield developments in Gillette, WY, including employment with Harold Stone and later Paul's Truck & Tractor. After dating Sonja M. Allestad for three years, they married on November 4, 1967 in Big Timber, MT. Kenny, together with Sonja, moved to Gillette in January of 1968. To this union three sons were born in '71, '73, and '78. Self-employment presented itself with Osborne Brother's Construction being the cornerstone, founded in 1971. Kenny participated in many other business ventures and economic opportunities where he earned many partners and lifelong friendships. He retired in 2006 and realized time to enjoy family and friends. Kenny's competitive nature during cards, cribbage and chess challenged many people. He was known for being a history buff, an avid fisherman, and a dedicated family man.Kenny is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Kathryn Osborne. Kenny is survived by his wife, Sonja, sons, Kenneth (Erin) Osborne of Sheridan, Thomas Osborne, and George Osborne both of Gillette, brothers, Charles (Lois) Osborne of Bozeman, MT, Larry (Debby) Osborne of Helotes, TX, and Rick (Becky) Osborne of Riverton, WY, four grandchildren, Reese, Rudy, River and Kenna, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
