Inurnment to follow at Moorcroft Cemetery.Patricia Ann (Rogers) Burks age 72, of Moorcroft, WY passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2016 in Lubbock, Texas. Pat was born on January 3, 1944 in Spur, TX to Ernestine and Henry Rogers. She attended school at Lovington High School, in Lovington NM. She married Willis Burks on June 10, 1960. They started their family in Lovington, and were blessed with a baby boy. A couple of years later they moved to Cortez, CO where they added a daughter to their family. They continued moving further north, heading to Wyoming in 1973. Her husband Willis had accepted a promotion, so he packed up the family, and ventured to Moorcroft. The couple raised their two children; son, Willis Jr and daughter; Shanda there. But their home was always open and full of kids. Many, to this day, still call her Momma Pat. Pat had many hobbies but loved watching her grandchildren in whatever venture they undertook. Again she took on the role of being "Grandma Pat" to many that were not her biological grandchildren. Pat also enjoyed playing golf with her family and friends. She was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan, and thoroughly enjoyed doing her weekly "football picks" with her grandkids. Pat is survived by her son; Willis Burks, Jr. of Gillette, WY, daughter; Shanda (Rusty) Jones of Wright, WY, brother Ronnie (Carolyn) Rogers of Levelland, TX, whom she enjoyed spending time with the last 3 years with in Levelland. Grandchildren; Jeremy (Jaclyn) Burks of Gillette, WY, Zach (Erin) Jones of Lubbock, TX, Cooper Jones of Nashville, TN, Duncan (Charlotte) Jones of Tucson, AZ and Emily Jones of Wright, WY, along with great-grandchildren; Jordyn Burks, Mattie Jones, and Walker Jones. Pat is preceded in death by her parents; husband; Willis Sr. and daughter-in-law; Twyla Burks. The fight against cancer was a passion for Pat. It hit close to home many times, personally, and through family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the Pat Burks Memorial Cancer Fund has been established. Memorials and condolences may be sent in care of Gillette Memorial Chapel 210 West 5th Street, Gillette, WY 82716. Condolences may also be expressed at www.gillettememorialchapel.com
