A celebration of life for Helen Overfield will be held 6:00 p.m., Monday, June 20, 2016 at Moose Lodge. Helen K. Overfield age 73, of Gillette, Wyoming passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 from natural causes. Helen Katherine (Carter) Overfield was born on May 31, 1943 in Nauvoo, Illinois to Elizabeth "Betty" (Harmon) and James Carter. She attended school in Illinois and graduated from Nauvoo High School in 1961. Helen married Wendall Overfield on May 29, 1971. They moved their family to Gillette in 1975 and called it home. Helen was a member of The Women of the Moose Lodge and also of The Pony Express. She enjoyed many hobbies including: gardening, crocheting, cooking, spending time with her grandkids; especially playing with Raeder. She also enjoyed playing darts, riding horses, gambling, and watching her grandsons play Xbox. Helen was also an avid Days of Our Lives fan. Helen's main occupation in life was being a homemaker and mom; she truly loved caring for her family. Later in life she became co-owner of Silver Dollar Construction with her son. Helen is survived by her son; Lee Overfield, grandsons; Ryan (Kiara) Overfield, Carter Overfield, Raeder Overfield, daughter-in-law; Jamie Overfield all of Gillette, WY, brother; Jethro Carter, sisters; Jean Starr of Nauvoo, IL, Marlene Rambo of Arizona, and Marsha Carter of Bull Head City, AZ, and nephew Mike (Kim) Smith. She is preceded in death by her husband; Wendall Overfield, son; Doug Overfield, parents and numerous aunts and uncles. A memorial has been established to benefit The Overfield Grandchildren.
