Chad Shanks

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at New Life Wesleyan Church in Gillette. Chad William Shanks, 30, of Gillette, Wyoming, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016 in Gillette. Chad was born on December 22, 1985 in Sterling, Colorado to Gary and Rhonda (St. John) Shanks. Chad lived in Sterling until moving to Gillette in October, 2001. He graduated from Campbell County High School in 2004, and later attended welding classes at Gillette College. Chad worked as a machinist and welder at Oilfield Machine. In 2014 Chad pursued a career in real estate and most recently worked as a licensed realtor for Century 21 Real Estate. Chad married Angelique Palomar Santos on Thursday, August 30, 2012. Chad was a gifted musician, starting with the trumpet and piano as a child, and guitar in his teenage years. He had the ability to play any melody or song by ear. He enjoyed snowboarding, longboarding, and camping, but the happiest times of his life were the precious years he was able to spend with his wife, Angie. They were always together and enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, and walking their dog Sadie around the parks and neighborhoods of Gillette. They took trips to Colorado, Las Vegas, and most memorably to Angie's home in the Philippines where Chad was able to meet her family. Chad is survived by his wife; Angelique Shanks of Gillette, mother and step-father; Rhonda and Kevin Schierholz of Sterling, Colorado, father and step-mother; Gary and Marcia Shanks of Gillette, brother; Collin Shanks, wife Hwan Suk, and their son Noah of Amarillo, TX, sister; Amanda Wentz, husband Chad Richey, and their sons Holden and Jude of Aurora, CO, brother; Jared Schierholz of Sterling, CO, brother; Connor Shanks and significant other Jessica Mustin of Gillette, grandparents; William and Dee St. John of Sterling, CO, Sandra Shanks of Alliance, NE, Orville Schierholz of Sterling, CO, Eileen Dockter of Harvey, ND, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceeded in death by grandparents; Dale Shanks and Betty Schierholz, and uncle; Dean Dockter. Memorials in Chad's honor may be made to the Chad Shanks Memorial Fund at Wells Fargo Bank.
