Funeral service for Wesley A. Swenson Sr. will held 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 20, 2016 at Gillette Memorial Chapel with Pastor Paul Bodin officiating. Visitation will be held at Gillette Memorial Chapel one hour prior to services. Interment to follow services at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery with Military Honors provided by American Legion Drill Team. Wesley Albert Swenson Sr. age 76 passed away at his home on May 11, 2016 from a heart attack. Wesley was born on October 3, 1939 in Kalispell, Montana to Harriet and Amund Swenson. He grew up with his older brother, Ronald on his families' farm in southern Montana. His passion for farming influenced many aspects of his life; including his tenacity, his nurturing, practical and pragmatic approach to life and his various career endeavors. Wesley joined the US Army shortly after graduating from high school. He went on to hold a variety of jobs after being honorably discharged; including US Park Ranger, bartender, bouncer, coal miner, security guard, and perhaps most importantly of all; being an amazing father. He met, worked with, dated and eventually married Carolyn E. Price (Wilhelm). The couple was married on November 29, 1970. They first lived in St. Xavier, MT where they had a son; Wesley Jr. In 1979 the family moved to Ashland, MT, to Gillette, WY in 1984, to Sheridan, WY in 1989 and finally in 1997 made their home in Gillette. In his younger years he was an avid fisherman and hunter, who had a great love of the outdoors and later enjoyed reading about and watching programs about the outdoors. He was a great fan of Elvis Presley music and movies, as well as western movies; especially John Wayne movies. Wesley is survived by his sons; Wesley Jr., Tom Price and Kem Price, four grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. His is preceded in death by his parents, brother and wife.
