Ronald Bruce Groves

Ronald Bruce Groves, age 65 passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the Close to Home Hospice in Gillette, WY. Ron was born to Bruce Groves and Beverly Muhe on November 7, 1950 in Sidney, Nebraska. Ron attended school in Gillette and graduated from Campbell County High School in 1968. Ron married Judy Stilwell on June 7, 1969, and from this union three sons were born. They later divorced. On September 20, 1992, Ron married Sharon Klimisch.After graduation Ron worked at various jobs in the oil field. He also was a mechanic at the Cycle Shop. In 1975 Ron started a career at the Campbell County Sheriff's Office. He was a Deputy Sheriff from 1975-1980. Ron then managed the gas station at Davis Chevrolet. In 1988 he returned to the Sheriff's Office working as a shift supervisor in the Detention Center. He retired in 1998.Ron had many hobbies and interests. He was a veracious reader especially anything about history and frequently planned great travel adventures from his reading. Ron was a collector of coins, rocks, and auto memorabilia. He focused on anything oil & gas. Ron enjoyed playing Texas Hold Em with friends at the Elks Lodge. He was a member of the Gillette & Deadwood Elks Lodges. Ron was a great fan of all forms of racing. His favorites were NASCAR & NHRA Drag Racing. He loved attending races whenever possible. Ron was a prankster at times. His laugh was contagious.Ron is survived by his wife Sharon, sons; Lonnie (Noell) Groves of Greeley, CO and Eric (Meleah) Groves of Gillette, WY, brother; Bill (Sue) Kuhrt, sister; Starla Kuhrt both of Gillette, Wy, grandchildren; Aubrie, Ethan, Kali, Allie, Tristan, and Laynee, great-grandchild Reagan, step-mother; Doris Groves, brother; Gary Groves both of Willow Springs, MO, and many nieces, nephews, and great friends. He is preceded in death by son; Shawn Groves, mother; Beverly Keys, dad; Albert Kuhrt, father; Bruce Groves. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Ron's name at the Close to Home Hospice.
