Memorial services for Ted Weischedel will be held 11:30 a.m., Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Recluse Community Hall.Ted H. Weischedel age 89, passed away on March 17, 2016 at Close to Home Hospice House in Gillette, WY. Ted H. Weischedel was born on February 6, 1927 on his parent's homestead north of Recluse, WY. His parents were Raymond B. Weischedel and Ada L. Adams. Ted was the youngest of 9 children that proceeded in him in death. He attended country school in the Recluse area and graduated from Gillette High School in 1945.Ted enlisted in the U.S. Navy in January of 1945 obtaining the rank of Seaman 1st Class and serving in World War II on the USS Cinnabar and other ships in the Pacific Area of Operations. He saw action in the Guam, Okinawa, and China Theaters. He was honorably discharged in October 1946 after being wounded.In 1949, Ted married Virginia B. Swim in Scottsbluff, NE and they were married for 66 years at the time of his death. To their union were born 3 children; Sheila Allen of Gillette, WY, Cheryl Kotshwar of Farnam, NE, and David Weischedel of Recluse, WY. Ted enjoyed his 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.Ted retired after 32 years from the Bureau of Reclamation as Chief of Surveys, having worked on several dam projects. He and his family moved from state to state and overseas to Bangkok, Thailand, moving on average every 2 to 3 years. After his retirement in 1981, he returned to Recluse to farm and ranch for 35 years. Ted requested cremation, and a private scattering of his ashes on the ranch will be conducted by his immediate family after the memorial service. The family request that donations be made to The Pleasant Hour Ladies Club of Recluse in Ted's name.
