Memorial services for Mike Nunley will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 12, 2016 at Walker Funeral Home with Pastor AJ Bush of First United Methodist officiating. Mike passed away on February 4, 2016 at Close to Home Hospice due to an extended illness. Michael Anthony Nunley was born to William S. and Carroll E. (Ore) Nunley on January 11, 1948 in Lewiston, MT. He graduated high school in Billings, MT in 1967 and served in the the U.S. Marines. He was honorably discharged in 1968. Mike worked as boiler operator in Billings at a meat packing plant, Ford Motor Company, City of Gillette and Wyoming Department of Transportation as a light technician as well as other service related positions. Mike's passion was old cars and he had many different ones throughout his life. He liked nothing better than to tinker with whatever old relic he had in the garage as well as trading, bartering and finding them. He had an uncanny way of finding old vehicles while driving down the road at 65 m.p.h. With just a piece of metal sticking up mile away, he would be able to identify the make and year. Many people would call him after being referred by someone to see if he knew where they could locate parts they were missing. Mike could fix just about anything related to a motor. He was a founding and lifetime member of the Campbell County Customs and Classics Car Club. In recent years he could be seen around town in his 1935 International pickup. He loved visiting with his friends or anyone else about old cars. He will be missed by his family and friends. Mike is survived by his wife, Del, daughter Tammy (Scott) Wiley, and granddaughter Grace, all of Gillette, his sister, Jody (Richard) Wheeler of Hawaii, extended family members Linda (John) McGuire of Douglas, Lee Hauber of Hulett, David (Nancy) Hauber of Gillette and Virginia Toomey of Montana, nephews Quentin McGuire of Gillette and Layne McGuire of Douglas, nieces Emma and McKenna Hauber of Gillette and Kelly (Whitney) Sheehan of Oregon. In addition to his parents Bill Nunley and Carroll Marcus, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Charles Marcus and brother, John D. Toomey. Memorials may be made to Close to Home Hospice or to the Shiners Hospitals for Children.
