Memorial services for Shirley Ann Gillette 78, will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Mount Pisgah Cemetery Shelter Chapel, with burial to follow. Shirley Ann Gillette passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Pioneer Manor. Shirley was born to Conrad and Ruby (Hiatt) Burback on June 9, 1937 in Kimball, Nebraska. Shirley was raised by her grandparents; Anna Elizabeth and Arthur Lee Kennedy in Kimball where she also attended school. Shirley met and married Herman (Red) Paine in 1955. From this union three daughters were born; Linda, Mary and Sandy. They moved to Gillette in 1959. Red died in a trucking accident on April 17, 1964. Shirley met and married Don Gillette in 1965 and to this union a daughter Danelle was born. Shirley and Don later divorced. Shirley worked several years for the Pioneer Manor, becoming very fond of the people she cared for. She went on to work in retail at various places including; The Shoe Store and Patricia's Floral. Shirley really enjoyed working with flowers. Shirley also worked at the Eagles Lodge in Gillette, where she made many friends with her quick wit and sense of humor. Shirley could be a little on the ornery side as we all know! Before retiring Shirley worked for the Emergency Closet for a time. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. In earlier years she loved to go to her sister-in-law and brother-in-law; Nell and Bill Koch's for family fun; which also included sister-in-law and brother-in-law; Bonnie and Dick Rich. Shirley enjoyed gambling and going dancing. She was a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion, and the Eagles Lodge. She loved her animals always putting them before herself; especially her dog Teddy Lee. Shirley will be missed by her daughters; Mary Knigge (John Fowler) of Rozet, Danelle (Danny) Muirhead of Gillette. Grandchildren; Jason (Melissa) Paine of Gilbert, AZ, Melissa (Chad) Gideon of Rozet, Skylar Muirhead of Gillette, sister; Linda Crossland of Colorado Springs, CO, nieces; Joanna, Tina, and Melanie, nephews; Rick, Brad, Billy, Justin, Garrett, and Larry. Shirley is preceded in death by her daughters; Linda Paine and Sandy Paine, mother; Ruby Deaver, father; Conrad Burback, sister; Bonnie, brothers; Jim and Larry, and her grandparents.
