A celebration of life for Tanner J. Bartel will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 11, 2016 at Family Life Church in Gillette, WY with Pastor Bill Morel officiating.Tanner Jon Bartel met his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 6, 2016. He did not lose his battle with cancer - he won eternal life in heaven. Tanner was born on December 12, 1983 in Rapid City SD to Eugene and Marie (Carland) Bartel. He attended Zion Lutheran School where he received his Christian foundation. Tanner developed a love for horses and rodeo at an early age. He trained his own rope horse when he was 10 years old with the help of Dick and Collette Leonhardt. He went on to rope and ride bulls in Little Britches, 4H and even PRCA. The family moved to Torrington WY in 1996. It was then that Tanner found a new passion. Hunting, fishing and the great outdoors became his new love. Most weekends you could find him on a lake or hunting. His first job in the concrete business was during summers in high school he worked for Cruickshank Construction in Torrington. After he graduated from Torrington High School in 2002 he moved to Gillette, WY and he took a job with S & S Builders and then Powder River Construction. In 2011, he started his own business, Donkey Creek Construction where he worked until his death. Tanner loved spending time with his closest friends and family. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. He never knew a stranger and was a friend to many. Tanner will be remembered for his contagious smile and laugh.Tanner is survived by his parents; Gene and Marie of Torrington, two brothers and their families; Troy, Jennesi, Judson, Tyanne and Raelynn of Laramie, Ty, Laura and Addison of Fredericksburg, VA, Grandma Anna Bartel of Pierre, SD. John and Velda Bartel of Pierre, SD and their family, Larry and Linda Bartel of Glasgow, MT and their family, Karen and Jim Travis of Highlands Ranch, CO and their family, and Monty and Evelyn Carland of Lusk, WY and their family. Family he joined in heaven are; his grandpa; John W Bartel, his cousin; John Edward Bartel and his grandpa and grandma; William and Mary Carland.Although his life was short, he truly lived his life to the fullest.
