Shelby Jean Sumner, 75 of Ocala, Florida, formerly of Gillette, passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital. She was born May 6, 1940 in Centralia, Illinois to Varlyn and Dorothy Murray. She married Don Sumner on May 19, 1956 in Brunswick, Georgia. She and Don along with their four children, spent 20 years traveling together during Don's time in the Air Force. They settled in Gillette in 1976 and called it home until 1996 when Don and Shelby retired and moved to Ocala, Florida. Those that knew Shelby remember her as a successful real estate agent who truly loved her work. She enjoyed painting, crafting, and more recently; FaceTime visits with her loved ones. Above all things, Shelby considered spending time with family her greatest joy. Shelby is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years; Don Sumner, her children; Chuck (Judy) Sumner, Joni (Kurt) Siebenaler, Jeanne (David) Kidd, all of Gillette, and Jim Sumner of Lincoln, Nebraska, seven grandchildren; Jennifer (Jason) Jones of Gillette, Lindsey Pherson of Texas, Toni (Ryan) Friedly, Rachel Pherson, Justin Sumner, Alyssa (Jeff) Jaeger, all of Gillette, and Tyler Rollings of Colorado Spring, CO. five great-grandchildren; Maddox Kruse, Jayden Friedly, Zoey Friedly, Vivienne Friedly, and Alyvia Jones, step-mother; Florence Murray, sister; Sharon Miller, and brother; David Murray of Centralia, Illinois, brother; Jim Murray of Salt Lake City, Utah, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister; Ann Garren. A memorial service at Family Life Church will be held at a later date.
