Mass of Christian Burial for Edward Joseph Chaulk will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 12, 2015 at St. Matthew's Catholic Church with Father Cliff Jacobson officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, December 11, 2015 with a Vigil starting at 6:00p.m. at Gillette Memorial Chapel. Ed died peacefully on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 with his wife at his side at Pioneer Manor. Ed was born on August 8, 1937 in Scottsbluff, NE to Jack and Ruth Chaulk. He lived in Alliance until high school when his family moved to Chadron where he graduated from Assumption Academy 1955. While in high school he played football and rodeo. He continued to rodeo into his 40's. He attended Chadron State College earning a 2 year Agriculture Degree. Ed married Colleen Marie Hourigan on October 27, 1962 in Lemmon, SD. Ed and Colleen lived in several different locations and moved to Gillette, WY in 1969. Together they raised 6 children; Jim, Therese, Sydney, Kacee, Molly and Bill. They celebrated 53 years of marriage this year. Ed worked several different jobs but enjoyed selling real estate the most. He worked for Barlow Agency and then started Chaulk Agency. He retired in 1992 due to health issues. Ed enjoyed roping, reading, racquetball, and playing cribbage. He also was a collector of guns, Navajo artifacts, rugs and art. He was an active parishioner of St. Matthew's Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Ed is survived by his wife; Colleen, children; Jim (Teresa) Chaulk, Therese Chaulk, Sydney (Troy) Tapp, Kacee (Lonnie) Pikula, Molly (Ross) Rebich and Bill (Wendy) Chaulk, grandchildren; Ryan, Cody, Sidney, Jacob, Sara, Taylor, Jesse, Jackson, Jason, Nick, Lauren, Tynan, Grace, Greyden, and Maryn, great-grandson; Danik Baker, sisters; Connee (Reuben) Quinn from Chadron, NE, and Penny Wikum of Chadron, NE, and cousin; Sue Chaulk (Kevin). He is preceded in death by his parents; Jack and Ruth Chaulk, mother and father-in-law; Sidney and Helen Hourigan, uncle and aunt; Bill and Helen Chaulk, brother-in-law; Larry Wikum, and granddaughter; Alix Nicole Suhr.Memorials may be made in Ed's name to John Paul II Catholic School or Pioneer Manor Alzheimer's Wing.
