Funeral Service for Billy Combs Sr. will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday November 19, 2015 at Walker Funeral Home with Erik Bergquist officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Walker Funeral Home. Billy Combs, Sr., age 75 passed away peacefully at home on November 15th, 2015 of natural causes. Billy was born February 21st, 1940, the seventh of eight children in Buckhorn, Kentucky to Alex and Roberta Combs. When he was young his family relocated to New Jersey. As an adult, Billy began his career as an over the road truck driver. Thru his love of horses, he met and married Charlotte Stokley. He and Charlotte had 2 children, Billy, Jr. and Bonnie. While in NJ, he also went to school to become a farrier. In 1977, Billy then relocated his family to Wyoming, where he and Charlotte both worked for the coal mines in Hanna, WY continuing their mining careers when they moved to Gillette in 1985. Billy retired from Caballo Mine in 2009. In 1987, his horse hobby led to him teaching English riding lessons, which in turn led to the start of the Powder Basin English Riding Club. Billy was an avid fisherman, taking many fishing trips with his wife. He also enjoyed sharing his hobby with his granddaughters, nieces and nephews, and loved pulling them around the lake on tubes. Billy leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Charlotte, his son, Billy (Pam) Combs, his daughter, Bonnie (Loren) Hertel, 3 granddaughters, Shelby (Bill) Hunt, Lindsey (Jack) Besel, and Sydney Hertel, and 3 great grandchildren, Ashlynn and Blake Besel, and Carter Hunt. He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Gillette Animal Shelter.
