Graveside Service for Lorin D. Wilhelms will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery with Father Jason Marco from St. Matthew's Catholic Church officiating. Lorin Wilhelms, age 74, of Gillette, WY passed away at Close to Home Hospice on November 8, 2015.Lorin D. Wilhelms was born to Marion (Doyle) Edwards and Martin Ulrich Wilhelms in Moore, Montana. He grew up and attended school in Moore, Montana. He graduated in 1955 and after graduation he went on to work at the family farm. Lorin then worked on a local ranch and later as an airplane mechanic. He retired from Black Thunder Mine after 30 years as a heavy equipment operator in Gillette. Lorin loved life, people, his coffee and especially his friends at the Lariat Caf in Gillette. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and the great outdoors.He took pride in taking care of his home and especially the many days he spent working on his yard. Lorin married the love of his life Catherine Marie Lowden on December 18th, 1980 in Gillette. He was a wonderful husband who loved to provide for his family. He treated Cathy's children as if they were his own and the same was true for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. With his last breath he kissed Cathy as he squeezed her hand and puckered up for that kiss.In Cathy's words: I have lost part of my life and love. I feel so lost without him. I loved him dearly but he is no longer in pain. He took care of me and watched me in all my pain & suffering. He took great care & love to help me survive. He can rest his head on a billowy soft cloud for his pillow. The Angels will watch over & take care of him. I will not say good bye, just so long till we're together once more forever. So long my beloved.He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Catherine Marie Wilhelms, his children, Tim Wilhelms of Stanfordville, MT; Nichole King of North bend, WA; Debra Adameck of Gillette, WY, Destiny Rodriguez of Rapid City, SD, Billie Lopez of Gillette, Wy, Kim Vasquez of Cos Cob, CT, Faith Ann Livermore of Trout Run, PA, Flores Ibarrondo of Willimantic, CT, sisters, Ida Mae Wilson, of Great Falls, MT, Dolly Nash of Great Falls MT, Francis Poptleton of St. Wawas, WA; brother, Don Wilhelms of Great Falls, MT ; 29 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother Marion (Doyle) Edwards and step father Harry Edwards and his Grandmother Vera Wilhelms from Iowa.A memorial has been established to benefit St. Matthew's Catholic Church in honor of Lorin.
