Memorial services for Ralph Wayne Bayles Jr will be held at 11:00 am, Monday November 2 at the American Legion Hall, 200 Rockpile Blvd, Gillette, WY. Ralph Bayles, 79, passed away with his sons nearby, Thursday October 30 due to complications from diabetes. Ralph was born in New Market, Iowa on December 9, 1936 to Ralph Wayne Bayles Sr and Velma Bayles (Godfrey). Ralph graduated from Northwest Missouri University, where he met his wife Judy, with a Bachelor in Education. Ralph and Judy settled in Gillette, Wyoming, in the early 70's. They had three children and three grandchildren. He spent 20 years as a chemistry teacher for Campbell County High School, where he taught his son Charles in a class. After retiring in the 80's from teaching, he moved on to insurance sales, establishing the Bayles Insurance Agency. His teaching and insurance work kept him in touch with large portions of the Gillette community and the surrounding areas. Ralph was a well-respected man about town, with long standing involvement in several civic groups in Gillette, including the Lions Club, 4H, FFA, YES House, and the Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed raising livestock, especially pigs, and growing vegetables at their house just outside of Gillette, until he moved into town in 2009. He spent his later years relaxing, watching NCIS, drinking coffee nearly every morning at Perkins and puttering around town in his orange and red 1986 Chevy truck. Ralph is survived by his children Charles Bayles of Wichita, KS, John Bayles of Gillette, WY, and Anthony Bayles of Portland, OR; and three grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at Gillette Memorial Chapel, 210 West Fifth Street Gillette, WY 82716.
