Funeral services for Eloise A. Shelly will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 2, 2015 at Gillette Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at Gillette Memorial Chapel. Ardelle Shelly passed on October 29, 2015, at the Close to Home Hospice House in Gillette, WY. In the last months of Ardelle's life she had been surrounded by her family of children and grandchildren, all of whom knew her to be the most caring and loving of people.Ardelle Thompson was born October 22, 1935. Her parents, Clarence and Geneva Thompson, were living at the Truax coalmine camp, near Columbus, North Dakota, when Ardelle was born. Later, the family moved to a farm near Columbus. Her love of horses and pets began there on the family farm and continued throughout her life. Ardelle graduated from Columbus High School in 1953. In 1956 she graduated from Minot State College's nurses' training program. She often shared stories of working in Chicago during her time in nurses' training.Ardelle and Bill Shelly were married October 20, 1960, in Crosby, North Dakota. They moved to Gillette, Wyoming, in 1964. Ardelle continued her nursing career at the Pioneer Manor in Gillette for 35 years. During this time she held many positions at the Pioneer Manor. She went above and beyond both personally and professionally. She was known for putting everyone else before herself. People simply adored Ardelle. Her sense of humor and her kindness always put people at ease.That sense of humor and kindness was always present in her family life. Ardelle and Bill's three childrenMark, Brad, and Jackiewere the center of her life, as were her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and daughters-in-law and son-in-law. Ardelle and Bill enjoyed seeing their family and going to Deadwood. Bill passed away in 2012, and Ardelle and her family felt this loss every day.Ardelle is survived by her children Mark (Starla) Shelley, Brad (Kirsten) Shelly, and Jackie (Jeff) Ramsey; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; siblings Jeanette Bonsness, Carol Post, Sandra Tysse, and Bruce Thompson. The family requests that memorials be made to Close to Home Hospice in Ardelle's name.
