Elva May Zolman died peacefully September 15, 2015 at Close to Home Hospice at the age of 93. Elva was born June 8, 1922, in Sabetha, KS, the youngest of three children born to Jake and May Zubler. After graduating from High School she took schooling in Kansas City, Missouri so she could work for the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA). At the school she met a fellow student, Peter Zolman. On February 20, 1943, they were married in Richmond, Missouri. The following month, Peter was inducted into the military and sent to Scott Field, an Air Force Base at Belleville, Illinois. Their first daughter Barbara was born there. In 1946 the family moved to Pueblo, where their second daughter Mary Ellen was born. Peter's job with the CAA transferred him to Scottsbluff, NE in 1949. Shortly after moving to Nebraska, Peter and Elva began attending meetings of Jehovah's Witnesses. Both were baptized July 24, 1955. Elva shared in the full-time Bible education work with Peter for many years. Elva was hard-working and industrious. She enjoyed flowers and planted many varieties. Elva was an accomplished pianist and typist, and she enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She also liked camping and fishing. In 1978 they moved to Grand Junction, CO. Elva was shy by nature, but poor hearing caused her to be even more so. Nevertheless, she enjoyed socializing and being with friends and family. Her gentle and quiet manner often concealed an inner strength and determination. They moved to Gillette in 2003. Elva kept as busy in the volunteer ministry as age and circumstances allowed. Elva is survived by her husband of 72 years, Peter; her two daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Dennis Isenhart of Douglas, and Mary Ellen and Dave Schmidt of Gillette; two grandchildren and their spouses, Sheila and Travis Willson of Oregon, and Jerry and Anna Schmidt; great-grandson Wyatt Schmidt all of Gillette.
