Alan Patrick Connolly

Funeral Services for Alan Connolly will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Gillette Memorial Chapel, Pastor Andrew Hazelet officiating. Visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 21, 2015 at Gillette Memorial Chapel. Alan Connolly age 58, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2015 at his home from heart attack. Alan was born on November 28, 1956 in Indiana, Pennsylvania to Naomi (Nottingham) and Dr. John Connolly. He was raised in Indiana, PA, where he attended school and graduated from Indiana Area Senior High School in 1975. He went on to attend a trade school and earn skills in the welding field. Alan moved to Gillette, WY in 1981 and used his welding skills in various jobs until Buckskin Coal Mine opened; he was one of the first to be hired at the time of the mines opening and he excelled in any job that he was assigned. Alan had many skills from welding to mechanical. He was employed with Buckskin mine for 30 plus years and was planning to retire within the next 6 years. Alan married Deborah Coy in 1984 and from that union the couple had two children; son; Brian and daughter; Lisa. The couple later divorced. Alan enjoyed the outdoors, and taking tropical vacations with his kids, brothers, or best friends to go scuba diving. He would travel anywhere from Keyhole to Canada to go fishing. Alan competed in gun competitions when he was younger, and even though he gave up competing he was still an active gun lover and collector and was always buying new guns. Alan is survived by his son; Brian (Amanda) Connolly of Rapid City, SD, daughter; Lisa (William) Jackson of Gillette, WY, brothers; Michael Connolly of Richmond, GA, Jack Connolly of Gillette, WY, Timothy (Debra) Connolly of Renton, WA, sister; Janice (Paul) Hazelet of Gillette, WY, along with two grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; Dr. John and Naomi Connolly, and infant brother; John Connolly. The family request that memorials be made in Alan's name to American Heart Association.
