Geraldine Jean 'Jeri' Kirk

Mass of Christian Burial for Geraldine J. 'Jeri' Kirk will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday September 14, 2015 at St. Mathew's Catholic Church with Father Jason Marco officiating. Geraldine Jean "Jeri" Kirk, age 79, of Gillette, WY passed away September 8, 2015 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette after a brief illness. Jeri was born January 25, 1936 to Rudy and Louise (Shuster) Anselmi, in Rock Springs, Wyoming. She attended school in Rock Springs and graduated with honors from high school having served as the class salutatorian and as President of the Student Body. She graduated from University of Wyoming in December of 1958 in three -and a- half years, with a degree in American Studies and a minor in education. On June 23, 1957 she married Cliff Kirk in Rock Springs and a short time later began a twelve year teaching career in Germany, Denver, Rawlins and Casper. She retired from teaching when she became a mother to her two sons, Andy and Chris.Jeri moved with her family to Gillette in 1978 where she began her commitment as a community volunteer. She loved politics and served on committees for numerous campaigns. She was proudly appointed as a Trustee to the University of Wyoming, where her unwavering dedication to the University and the State of Wyoming, coupled with keen memory for dates, and knowledge of state history, was a notable strength.Jeri was a well-read, very intelligent and kind woman. Everyone she touched was taken with her gentle nature, love of laughter, and devotion to her family and church. She and her husband Cliff were married for 58 years.Jeri is survived by her husband, Cliff Kirk of Gillette; sons, Andy and Chris of Gillette; two sisters, Mary Lou Unguren of Rock Springs, Lynn (Tom) Lockhart of Casper; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her Mother, Father, and grandson Kyle Kirk.In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be sent to University of Wyoming school of Nursing, St. Matthew's or a charity of your choice.
