Ruth Maxine Jones

Funeral service for Ruth Jones will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 2, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church in Moorcroft, WY. Interment to follow at Moorcroft Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Gillette Memorial Chapel. Ruth Jones age 91, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Close to Home Hospice in Gillette, WY.Ruth Maxine (Schuette) Jones was born on January 29, 1924 to Gustave and Lizzie (Materi) Schuette at the family's ranch home near Upton, WY. Ruth was raised on a farm 10 miles southwest of Upton, WY. Ruth attended a couple of country schools near her home, until there was busing to Upton School from which she graduated in 1942. After graduation Ruth worked for Pringle Motors as a bookkeeper for a short time. She then went to work at the Wyodak Bentonite Plant driving truck. She also worked at the Colloid Bentonite Plant as a scale girl. During her time working in the bentonite plants she met Edwin R. Jones and they married on October 22, 1945 in Billings, Montana. From this union came two sons; Rocky and Rusty. The couple moved to Belle Fourche, SD, where Ruth worked as a bookkeeper for the bentonite plant, while Edwin worked in the plant. After the bentonite plant burned to the ground, the couple decided to buy haying equipment and they hayed near Biddle, MT. The couple made Moorcroft, WY their home in the fall of 1947, where the couple started and electric an appliance business. Ruth had a love for music starting at a young age, when her father reluctantly bought a piano that he thought no one in the house could play. Once the piano was set up in their house, Ruth sat down and played a song just by ear. She had an unknown talent all those years prior. While growing up Ruth would play at country dances making $1.50 a night. Ruth's loves in her life were; family, music and friends. Ruth is survived by her sons; Rocky (Laura) Jones of Davenport, IA, and Rusty (Shanda) Jones of Wright, WY, grandchildren; Zach (Erin) Jones of Lubbock, TX, Cooper Jones of Nashville, TN, Duncan (Charlotte) Jones of Pensacola, FL, Spencer Jones of Davenport, IA, Rachel Jones of Davenport, IA, Emily Jones of Wright, WY, and Allison Jones of Davenport, IA, and great-granddaughter; Mattie Jones of Lubbock, TX. She is preceded in death by her husband; Edwin Jones, sisters; Marie Douglas, Florence Kintz, Francis Ash, brothers; Bill Schuette, Charlie Schuette, Clarence Schuette, and John Schuette.
