Kay Lynn Bishop

November 12, 1978 — June 26, 2015

A Celebration of Life Reception honoring Kay Lynn Bishop will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall on July 3, 2015 from 4-7pm. Kay gained her angel wings on June 26, 2015 due to sudden heart failure. Kay Lynn Bishop was born on November 12, 1978 in Buffalo, Wyoming to Everett and Judy Bishop. She grew up in Gillette, graduating from CCHS in 1997. From there Kay began her higher education at Casper College, finishing up in with a degree in Massage Therapy from Headlines Academy in Rapid City. Kay was a natural born caregiver, which led her to many jobs in that field. In order to realize her full potential and dream as a caregiver she completed her RN degree from Gillette College in 2011. Upon graduating with her RN Kay worked for two surgery centers in Gillette prior to her death. Her patients were always complimenting her for her compassion and thoughtfulness. Kay grew up on a ranch south of Gillette and was active in 4-H and FFA. As an adult Kay continued to support the 4-H program. Kay was an inspiration to everyone she knew and did not know a stranger. She was well known for her smile, positive attitude, bubbly personality and her great sense of humor. She always had an ear for a friend or a shoulder to cry on and was known for providing encouragement to others. Kay enjoyed outdoor activities like sledding, fishing, and camping. She loved spending time with her boyfriend and friends, some of her favorite times were spent around bonfires telling stories with them. She loved hosting campfire parties with her nieces and nephew. 2014 was one of the happiest years of her life, as she had found both professional success, as well as personal happiness with her boyfriend Dan. Kay is survived by Dan Oliver; her parents Everett and Judy Bishop of Gillette; brother David (Carla) Glassman of Sedro-Woolley, WA, sister, Dawna (Ed) Bennett of Burlington, WA brother, Earl Bishop, Buffalo, WY; sister, Lin (Chad) Stephens of Gillette, nieces Katherine and Alestra Glassman, Chaylin and Chyla Stephens, nephew Chaldin Stephens, and numerous Uncle and Aunts. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Charles and Doris Bishop and her maternal grandparents George and Vera Powell. Kay leaves behind many broken hearted loved ones, friends, and patients; for to know her was to love her and it is so very hard to say good bye to someone called away so young. In lieu of flowers the family has set up a nursing scholarship in Kay's name.
