Memorial Service for Aline Mankin will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 20, 2015 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, with Father Tom Fiske officiating. Aline, age 87, of Gillette, WY passed away on Monday, April 13, 2015 at Close to Home Hospice. Aline (Haight) Mankin, daughter of Wayne and Otelia Haight, was born on October 14, 1927 in Omaha, NE, coming to live in Wyoming at the young age of 3 weeks. Aline lived 20 miles south of Gillette, where she attended the one room Henriksen School, which had an average of 12 students per year. She later came to Gillette where she graduated from Campbell County High School and the University of Wyoming. While at the University she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. Aline married John A. Mankin in Fort Collins, CO on April 18, 1947. Two children were born to this union, Karen Raye Hayden (Gary Hayden) of Casper, WY and Randall Wayne Mankin (Sue Ann Mankin) of Scottsdale, Arizona. She has four grandchildren Gwen Barstad (Scott Barstad), Wes Hayden (Gina Hayden), Kylie Mankin, and Blake Mankin, and three great-grandchildren; Taylor, Tatum and Darby Barstad. Aline began a teaching career in 1968, teaching at the Bundy, Gap and Stocktrail Schools. She retired from teaching in 1978, where she remained an active member of the community. She belonged to the I.P.B. Extension Club, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church serving on the Alter Guild for many years, Chp. V, P.E.O., and an active member of the Y.E.S. House Board, Pioneer Manor Advisory Board, and also served as an active member of the Corporate Board of North Central Health Services. She served on the Foundation Board of the Gillette College, and was actively engaged in fund raising for the first college building. Aline was residing at Primrose Retirement Community at the time of her death.She is preceded in death by her husband, John, parents and sister; Helen Bell.
