Donna Jean Smith

Donna J. (Keck) SmithDonna Jean (Keck) Smith, age 87, of Weston passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Pioneer Manor in Gillette, Wyoming. Donna was born in Gillette, Wyoming on June 12, 1927. She was the thirteenth child of fourteen children in the family born to Louisa Jane (Maddox) Keck and John Henry Keck. Her father died when she was nine years old, prior to World War II. She attended school in Gillette, receiving her diploma from Campbell County High School in 1945 in a class of forty two graduates. After graduation she continued working at the Corner Drug and the Fiesta Movie Theater. On September 1, 1946, she married Lynn Duane Smith and moved to the ranch near Weston where they lived on the same ranch in the same house, celebrating sixty five years on September 1, 2011. On the ranch she was a homemaker and raised a family with two children. She served her community as an election clerk for many years. Donna's hobbies included crochet, jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She is preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband, and all of her siblings. Donna is survived by her daughter Lynette Smith of Laurel, Montana, grandsons Russell Perkins of Denver, Colorado and Reid (Lisa) Perkins of Missoula, Montana and son Rod (Katie) Smith of Gillette, Wyoming, grandchildren Merritt (Sarah) Smith of Gillette, Wyoming and Cinnamon (Jade) Lenhart of Weston, Wyoming and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service for both Lynn and Donna Smith will take place on Saturday March 28, 2015 at 11:00 am (lunch to follow) at the Presbyterian Church in Gillette. An internment service will then take place at the family ranch following services.
