Funeral Service for Samuel J. Wenger will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday March 17, 2015 at Antelope Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Kim Bearden officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 Monday March 16, 2015 at Walker Funeral Home. Samuel Wenger, age 80 passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Close to Home Hospice. Samuel J. Wenger was born December 5, 1934 in Carlile, Wyoming to Samuel and Monnie Wenger. He was a Wyoming Native and received his education in Wyoming. Sam's hobby and career was as a mechanic and firefighter. He spent thirty four years as a volunteer and paid fireman, of which seven years was spent as a fire chief. Sam retired in 1998 from Campbell County Fire Department, and went to work at the Polaris dealership for a couple years and then Northern Productions from 2001 to 2014 where he finally retired. Sam enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and wrestling. He was an active member of Antelope Valley Baptist Church. Sam is survived by his wife, Elaine Wenger; sons, Samuel John Wenger, Timothy James Wenger; daughters, Jennifer Wenger, Darla (Bruce) Redig, J'Laine (Lance) Proctor; brother, Robert Wenger; sister Betty (Jack) Gazzolo; grandsons, Joshua Wenger, Eli Wenger, Jeremey ( Nikki) Bennett; granddaughters, Kimberly Wenger, Samantha Brewer, Jessica (Matt) Hopkins, Jeannie (Nathan) Quast, Makeda Proctor, Simret Proctor; great grandsons, Michael Bennett, Mack Bennett, Isaac Quast, Seth Quast; great granddaughters, Michaella Hatfield, Anastasia Brewer, Autumn Brewer, and great great grandson, Drayson Hatfield. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Edna Mae MCGee. A memorial has been established to benefit the American Cancer Society.
