Funeral Services for Lloyd Shane will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Gillette Memorial Chapel. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Lloyd Dennis Shane, 88 of Gillette passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper WY. Lloyd was born April 7, 1926 in St. Paul Minnesota to Myrtle (Scribner) Shane. He was raised in Wisconsin. After the death of his mother, he hopped a freight train and ended up in Wyoming. He was lucky enough to land a job doing ranch work for Buster Lynde. He always spoke very highly of Buster and was thankful for the things he learned from him. In 1944, he began serving his county with pride in the United States Army. He was involved in the European, African and Middle Eastern Campaign. He was a life time member of the American Legion. After his discharge, he returned to Wyoming working on various ranches before moving in to town. He graduated from the police academy and spent 11 years with the Gillette Police department, ending his career in law-enforcement as a Sergeant. He moved to Washington in 1968 working 18 years for Weyerhaeuser Lumber. In his later years he moved back to Gillette to be closer to his family. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He is survived by his children; Glenn "Bud" Shane of Gillette WY, Jerry (Sharon) Shane of Buffalo WY, Vickie Ferderer of Sundance WY, Bill Shane of Hendersonville TN, and Loretta Hardy of Gillette WY, 11 Grandchildren and 13 Great- grandchildren, sister; Bette Klinkhammer, brother; Bill Shane from Washington and Gerald Shane from Arizona. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bob Shane and an infant daughter.
