Irene enjoyed working alongside Vernon, cooking, gardening, going to Deadwood, and going to rodeos. She truly enjoyed every opportunity to watch her grandkids participate in rodeos, basketball, tennis, track and school programs. For several years they traveled to Las Vegas for the National Finals Rodeo and to Kaycee, Wyoming for the Deke Latham Memorial Rodeo. In 1997 and 1998 they went to Cody, Wyoming for the 4th of July Rodeo and toured thru Yellowstone National Park for the first time.
