Wayne Ross Daly passed away Monday, December 15, 2014, at Pioneer Manor in Gillette as a result of multiple injuries suffered from a fall in December of 2011.Wayne was born September 23, 1952, to Daryl and Jean Daly in Sheridan, Wyoming. They lived in Big Horn, Wyoming, where Wayne attended elementary and high school. During school he played football, basketball, Legion baseball, was in track and rode bucking horses. Several college football coaches came calling, but he decided on a local college and marriage. Wayne and Kay (Clements) were married June 20, 1971. Their life took many turns but was always enriched by their children Terra, Patrick and Erin. Wayne spent a great deal of time hunting, fishing, camping, horse packing and breaking horses. As his family grew they shared all these activities and many more. Wayne and Kay traveled to watch their children in volleyball, basketball, football and rodeos all over the state of Wyoming. Hunting and camping trips provided opportunities for limitless fun and wild stories. Wayne worked as a ranch hand and carpenter before moving to Gillette in 1984, when he was hired as a mine technician at Caballo Rojo. Over the years his mine was bought and sold several times, but at the time of the accident, he was a dozer operator at Antelope Mine. Wayne spent fifteen years as a volunteer for the Campbell County Fire Department. "Going for a drive" was quite often a memorable family event. Kids would ask, "Where are we going?" the answer was, "I don't know but you better pack a bag". The rumors of a good time trickled down to the grandchildren who soon learned hanging out with grandpa would be fun. Wayne enjoyed riding, raising and training horses, but fulfilled a 'bucket list' item when he and his family started raising registered quarter horses. He looked forward to the excitement of retiring and traveling with his new camper. Wayne is survived by his wife: Kay. Children: Terra (Roland Jr.) Price, Pat (Natalie) Daly, Erin (Randy) Albers. Grandchildren: Brandon and Aliceon Daly, Sadi Allee, Emma and Ross Daly, Lane and Caleb Albers, Roland Price III (Davey) and great granddaughter Taliah. Mother-in-law: Shirley Clements. Parents: Daryl and Jean Daly. Siblings: Ray (Kathy) Daly, Lynn (Cindy) Daly, Shawn Killinger and their families, aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition, there were loyal and caring friends that came by to check on him when he was just 'hanging out' at home or in the hospital, nursing home and hospice house.
