Bernard F. MeckemFuneral Service for Bernard F. Meckem will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Walker Funeral Home with Pastor Phillip Jones of Roadway Alliance Church officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at Walker Funeral Home. Bernard F. Meckem, age 80, of Gillette, WY, passed away September 17, 2014 at Close to Home Hospice from cancer. Bernard F. Meckem was born December 29, 1933 in Crawford, Nebraska to Maude and Frank Meckem. He graduated from Natrona High School in Casper, Wyoming and enlisted in the Army. He was honorably discharged as Corporal in 1955 after serving two years which included the Korean War. Bernard worked at Fairmont Supply for thirty years and where he retired from. He couldn't handle not being busy so he went to work for the Campbell County School District at Sage Valley as a custodian for ten years. After work on Fridays and Saturdays he spent his evenings at his two favorite restaurants. Even while being in Close to Home he still had a great spirit, always asking who wants to dance. When a clock fell he said "Don't be throwing my time away!" Bernard always was a quick witted man. Dad was a gracious man, proud husband and wonderful father.Bernard is survived by his daughters, Rebecca (Mel) Burnett, Stephanie (Richard) Boyd; son, Jason Meckem; Grandchildren, James Burnett, Jennifer Collar, Brian Boyd, Michael Boyd, Kristen Meckem; Great- Grandchildren, Teagon, Devyn and Leeum.He proceeded in death by his parents, his wives Sandra and Donna and sister Pauline.
