Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church on August 30, 2014. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 30, 2014 in Mount Hope Cemetery in Big Horn, Wyoming. Frances Wallace Ivey passed away peacefully August 26, 2014 at Pioneer Manor after a 9 year battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Atlanta, GA in 1926 to Euris A. Wallace, Sr. and Alice L. Wallace, and grew up in Ben Hill, GA with 5 brothers and 1 sister. She graduated from Russell High School and maintained those early friendships through class reunions for over 60 years. Frances was a joy to all who were blessed to know her. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all. Even though she was only 4'10" tall, she had a big heart and was full of spunk and mischief. She was a talented seamstress who tailored beautiful clothing and decor for her family and many friends. She loved to grow flowers and vegetables, was an excellent cook, and was famous for her delicious pound cakes. Shortly after the end of WWII she met and married a handsome Marine sergeant, Charles Ziegler, became a stay at home mom and raised 3 children. She and Charles were married for nearly 30 years until his death. She then went to work as a data processor to support herself and met many wonderful friends through her business associations. In 1983 she married James B. Ivey and they enjoyed 10 wonderful years together until his death. The last 6 months of his life he was an invalid and she lovingly cared for him at home while continuing to work full time. After retirement, she spent 12 years living at Lake Martin, AL (just another day in paradise) with her special friend Dan Gassett. In 2007, as her health was failing, she was brave enough to move away from the sunny south to chilly Gillette, WY to live near her daughter. Her last six years of life she was a happy resident of Pioneer Manor, where she was loved and cared for tenderly. Whether you knew her as Frances, Sister, Fran, Frannie, or Little Granny, she was everybody's special Mama. In addition to Charles, Jim, and Dan, she was also preceded in death by her son, Raymond E. Ziegler, and four of her brothers. She is survived by her younger brother Fred E. Wallace of Douglasville, GA and sister, Alice W. Whittle of Covington, GA; son, Stephen L. Ziegler of Atlanta; daughter, Cynthia Z. Wood and son-in-law McKinley Wood, of Gillette, WY; 8 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Frances will be laid to rest in her adopted state of Wyoming.
