Funeral services for John Beltz will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Erin Youngs of Journey Church officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery with Military Honors done by American Legion Post #42 Honor Guard.John Norman Beltz, age 68, of Gillette, WY died Thursday, July 31, 2014 at University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, CO.John was born April 29, 1946 in Buffalo, New York the son of Norman and Geraldine (Balasky) Beltz. He attended school in Buffalo, NY and graduated from Bishop Turner High School in 1964 then went on to earn a degree at Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. John met the love of his life, Mary McKone, in 1961 at a church function in Buffalo, NY and the couple were inseparable from then on. They were married in Buffalo, NY on April 20th 1968. John joined the US Navy in 1966 and served in Pennsacola, FL until receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1970. John and Mary moved to Gillette in 1980 where he was a general contractor focusing on new construction. John began his career in Safety Administration at Wyodak in 1984 and worked there until his first retirement in 2007. He soon realized that he was unhappy not working so John took a job with Peabody Coal where he worked until his final retirement in 2013.John's passions in life included riding his Harley, camping, eating McDonalds, working as a Firefighter, and most of all spending time with his kids and grandkids.John is survived by his wife: Mary; daughter: Jenifer (Shane) Thomas of Gresham, OR ; son: Chris (Hannah) Beltz of Gillette, WY; and grandchildren: Payton, Andrew, Parker, and Carter.He was preceded in death by his mother and father.Memorials and condolences may be sent in John's name in care of Walker Funeral Home 410 Medical Arts Court Gillette, WY 82716.
