Funeral Service for Zelda Lawrence will be 10:00 a.m. July 24, 2014 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel in Moorcroft, Wyoming. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday July 23, 2014 at Walker Funeral Home. Zelda Lawrence, age 69, passed away at her home on July 20, 2014 in Moorcroft, Wyoming. Zelda Carylon (Jensen) Lawrence was born on the 7th of November 1944, in Lusk, Wyoming to loving parents, Earl Franklin Jensen and Vlasta Catherine (Shimek) Jensen. She was the 2nd of five children. She met the love of her life, Chuck Lawrence, when she and her older sister came to Moorcroft to visit their cousin. Chuck and Zelda were married May 10, 1960 in Thermopolis, Wyoming, and before long she was the young mother of 4 daughters under the age of 4.Her family moved all over the Intermountain West until their oldest daughter started Kindergarten , and they settled in Moorcroft in January of 1966, and raised all of their children in that community.Zelda joined a bowling league and bowled for several years in the Moorcroft Community. Many remember her with fondness and appreciate her ready smile and open heart from those years.After a long and successful career as a Stay at Home Mom, she finished her education by attending evening classes and after earning her GED from Eastern Wyoming College she began working at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital. She became know as the ER nail lady because of her colorful fingernails, always personalized with festive designs and holiday decorations, corresponding to each of the seasons. She was named the Campbell County Hospital Pride Employee of the month in August of 2001.She continued working at the hospital for several years until her health forced her into retirement.Zelda enjoyed camping, studying the history of the Titanic, building and displaying her Christmas Village, working on family history and genealogical research, putting together jigsaw puzzles, tri-chem painting, sewing and spending time with her family. Most every summer she could be found camping on the shore of Cook Lake in Northern Crook County with her husband Chuck.Zelda was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Vlasta Jensen of Lusk and a sister, Cecil Allbright, of Wheatland.She is survived by her husband, Charles Lawrence, of Moorcroft, daughters Dawn (Ray) Burger of Moorcroft; Cindy Lawrence, of Moorcroft; Trudie Lawrence, of Ft. Myers, Florida; Jody (Eric) Geis of Wright; Susie (Jess) Jimision of Moorcroft; John (Tracey) Lawrence of Gillette; 2 brothers Jens and Chip Jensen of Glenrock; a sister Paula Jensen; 25 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grand Children and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.The words of Proverb 31 describe her relationship with her family, "Her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her"Through small and simple means, she has left a legacy of love and an example of excellence for her family.After a lengthy illness, she passed away on 20 July 2014,at her home in Moorcroft, surrounded by the family she loved so much.Memorials and Condolences may be sent to the family in care of Walker Funeral Home 410 Medical Arts Court Gillette, WY 82716.
