A Celebration of Life for Bruce Morrison will be held at 6 8 p.m. on July 2, 2014 at the AVA Community Art Center, 509 W. 2nd St., Gillette, WY. Bruce was born March 22, 1927 in Wauneta, Nebraska. His parents were Howard Leroy and Helen Elizabeth Morrison. He was the eldest of 5 children. His siblings were Lee, Bill, Eleanor, Janice, and Rodney. All have preceded Bruce in death with the exception of Rodney who resides in Oregon.Bruce married Gloria Maxine Rucker on August 30, 1947. They were married just short of 67 years. They have one daughter, Rebecca Vance Morrison. Both Gloria and Rebecca reside in Gillette, Wyoming.Bruce lived in Gillette, Wyoming for over 30 years. He enjoyed a long career in construction working for Campbell County Concrete, Cundy Asphalt, MGM Enterprises, and Powder River Sand and Gravel as well as others. He also served on the Gillette Chamber of Commerce. He never "retired" and worked on various projects up until the end of his life.Those who knew him will remember his rambunctious laugh and his love of life. His interests included gardening, rebuilding furniture, woodworking, photography, rock collecting, antiquing, and the visual arts.Bruce died peacefully in his home on Sunday, June 22nd. He was 87 years old. He will be missed by family and friends and his beloved dog Poppy.A memorial has been established in Bruce's name.
