Memorial Service for Lloyd "Bill" Sams will be Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 11:00a.m. at First Southern Baptist Church, 620 N. Yellowstone Ave, Moorcroft, WY with a luncheon to follow. Lloyd W "Bill" Sams, age 61, of Moorcroft, WY passed away March 24, 2014 at Close to Home Hospice in Gillette, WY. Bill was born on December 22, 1952 to Agnes Violet Adams and Lloyd S. Sams in Gillette, WY. Bill attended grade school in Recluse, WY and graduated high school in Arvada, WY. Bill ran the family ranch until 1989 when he moved to Milaca, Minnesota. He came back to Wyoming in 1995 where he pumped oil wells until 2009. He then built beautiful custom made kitchen cabinets, entertainment centers along with several other custom pieces. For a hobby he made wooden toys for children. On October 9, 1999 Bill married Eloise Oliver in Arvada, WY. Bill was blessed with five children from his first two marriages. His first marriage to Starr Waltal brought him twin boys Courtland and William Sams. His second marriage to Mary Davis added Brian Sams, Beth VanderPlaats, and Matthew Sams.Bill had a deep faith in Christ and attended the First Southern Baptist Church in Moorcroft. He loved traveling, camping and exploring back roads with his grandchildren. His favorite trip was taking them on a "dinosaur run." Where they would go see Hill City Dinosaur Museum, dinosaurs in Rapid City on the big hill, Wall drug and spend hours waiting for the dinosaurs to roar every fifteen minutes. Then through the bad lands to see the dinosaur fossils and back to Rapid City on Highway 40 where we saw a beautiful dinosaur standing in the grass near a row of trees by a creek bank. Bill is survived by his wife Eloise; his two sisters Twilla Christensen of Broadus, MT and Sue Hardin of Miles City, MT; his children William Sams and wife of Gillette WY, Courtland Sams and wife of Thermopolis, WY; Brian Sams and wife of Milaca, MN; Beth VanderPlaats and husband of Milaca, MN and Matthew Sams and wife of Pequot, MN; and fifteen grandchildren.Bill is preceded in death by his parents. A memorial has been established in Bill's name to benefit the Frist Southern Baptist church of Moorcroft, WY.
