Edward Betts

Funeral Services for Edward M. Betts will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday February 3, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church 203 W. Flying Circle Dr. Gillette, Wyoming. Burial will be at a later date at the Black Hills National Cemetery. Edward Betts, age 80, of Gillette, Wyoming a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend passed away at Close to Home Hospice in Gillette, Wyoming on January 28, 2014. Edward was born to Martin and Elsie (Miller) Betts on June 28, 1933 in Dorrance Kansas. He attended school at Dorrance. On January 18, 1952 he enlisted in the Navy and on February 17, 1954 he was honorably discharged. He married Retta Heath on November 26, 1956. He spent all of his life in the oilfields. After retirement he went to work for Campbell County Senior Center, where he thoroughly enjoyed driving the seniors around wherever they need to go. They had two children son Martin and daughter Alyson.Edward is survived by his wife, Retta of 57 years; Son Martin (Nancy) Betts of St. Joseph, Minnesota; Daughter Alyson (Kelly) Zimmerschied, one grandson Kerry of Moorcroft, Wyoming; Brother Lester "Butch" Betts McCook, NebraskaHe is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Marvin, Athol and Leroy "Tiny", two sisters Imogene and Verba.In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for the Campbell County Senior Center.
