Doris Irene Young

Memorial service for Doris Young will be held at 11:00a.m., Friday, January 31, 2014 at Walker Funeral Home with Erik Bergquist officiating. Doris Young, age 90 passed away at Pioneer Manor with her family by her side on January 25, 2014.Doris Irene Young was born June 27, 1923 in Paso Robles, California. She was the third child in a family of five born to Roscoe and Grace Leonard. Doris grew up in numerous areas including Paso Robles, CA, Kingman, AZ and Laurel, MD. After Doris graduated from high school in Laurel, MD she moved to Montrose, CA with her family. In 1944 she met and married Jim Young in La Crescenta, CA. Doris and Jim made their home on a dairy farm in Mochicanville, OH. Five children were born to their union. Even while raising children and working on the farm Doris worked for Ellings Studios in Wooster, Ohio coloring pictures. In 1970 the family relocated to Roscoe, MT, where the couple operated Jim's Gun Shop in Roscoe. The couple later divorced in 1980, and Doris moved to Montrose, CA to be near her mother. Doris enjoyed her work in Glendale, CA at Audio Digest until her retirement in 1993. She then moved to Gillette to be near her children. Doris traveled extensively and enjoyed her retirement years. Her favorite hobby was painting. Doris is survived by her sons Chris (Lois) Young of Douglas, WY; David (Janet) Young of Rozet, WY; her daughters Mary Ellen (Dave Toney) Young and Lora (Matt) Dilley both of Gillette, WY; 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Peggy Anne Rose; sisters Gladys Whitlock and Lorraine Phillips; brothers Stan Leonard and Rick Leonard.
