Clifford "Cliff" Jay Freestad, 57, of Gillette, WY died Tuesday January 14, 2014 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital after a long battle with an illness. He was born on November 13, 1957 to Hans and Mabel (Neuman) Freestad, in Ronan, MT. He attended college at Black Hills State University where he met the love of his life. On January 10, 1979, he married Stacy Jo Blank. They welcomed 3 children, a daughter in 1980, a daughter 1981, and a son in 1983. He went to work at Homestake Gold Mine in late 1979 as an underground miner. He became an electrician in 1989 and continued to work at Homestake until it closed in 2001. He then went to work for Warf until 2004. He was employed with Rio Tinto Mine/Cloud Peak Energy until his passing. He enjoyed fishing, camping, building things in his wood shop, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife, Stacy Freestad of Gillette, WY; daughters, Pamela Freestad of Sturgis, SD, Samantha (Jason) Dosch of Gillette, WY; son, Eric Freestad of Billings, MT; grandchildren; Athena, Faith, Cherity, Britnee, Malachi, Rayden, Kayte, Abbigail, Gabe, Levi, Trinity, Jorgia, Jordan, and Carter; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles; and friends.
