A Mass of Christian Burial for Marie Raley will be held at 11:00a.m. Saturday January 11, 2014 at St. Mathew's Catholic Church with Father Reymond Canete officiating. Interment at Black Hills National Cemetery will be on Monday January 13, 2014 at 1:30p.m. A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00p.m. with a Vigil from 5:00-6:00p.m. on Friday January 10, 2014 at Walker Funeral Home, Gillette, WY.Marie D. Raley, age 88, of Gillette, WY went to heaven on January 6, 2014 to celebrate her 71st wedding anniversary with her beloved husband, Joseph.Marie was born October 5, 1925 in Jefferson, SD the daughter of William and Eldora (Moon) Merrill. She grew up in Jefferson Co., S.D. and attended schools at McCook Lake, North Sioux City, SD and Central High School in Sioux City, IAShe married Joseph J. Raley January 7, 1943 in Dakota City, NE and to this union came seven children.Marie was a skilled seamstress and tailor as well as a first-class baker of killer cinnamon rolls. Marie often loved to play poker, bingo and slot machines in Vegas and Deadwood. She attended church on a regular basis and also crocheted for entertainment. Marie was a very loving, caring and kind woman who would help anyone, anytime, if she could. Marie retired in 1985 with her husband, Joseph while living in Mason City, IA. They moved to Rapid City, SD, living there until 2003, at which time they settled in Gillette, WY due to her ailing husband so they could be with their son Joseph A. and daughter-in-law Diane Raley. Marie is survived by seven children: DeLoris Mollenbernd of Pinole, CA; Michael Raley of Red Wing, MN; Patrick (Pamela) Raley of Cincinnati, OH; Joseph A. (Diane) Raley of Gillette, WY; Jeffrey (Nancy) Raley of Lakeville MN; Gerald (Cindy) Raley of Aurora, CO; and Therese (David) Pontius of Lead, SD; 17 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. She is also survived by three siblings: William (Delores) Merrill of North Sioux City, SD; John (Shirley) Merrill of Sioux City, IA; and Sandy (Roy) Albeck of Holiday Island, AR.Preceding her in death: husband Joseph, parents William and Eldora Merrill, siblings Donald (Eunice) Merrill and Violet (Milton) Steeg, John Raley, grandson, Alexis Raley, great- granddaughter.
