San Diego resident Andrew "Andy" Nemec, age 42 passed away peacefully in his sleep of a heart attack on December 11, 2013 in Valley Center, California. Andy was a great man who loved his family and worked hard to provide for them doing construction work. Andy attended most of his school years in Gillette and graduated from Campbell County High School in 1989. From 1989-1993, he was a Crew Chief on a UH-60A, UH-60E Sikorsky Blackhawk Helicopter in the US Army and served in the Gulf War. Andy is an amazing man whose kindness and benevolence were experienced by all those who were lucky enough to know him, and frequently was the first on the scene in times of need. Andy's hobbies included cooking, following the Minnesota Vikings, and exploring everything life had to offer him and his family. Andy's passion for cooking was well known, and he would often spend hours in the kitchen inventing new recipes, which he would share with his family. Andy was an active member and usher at St. Paul's church in San Diego, and actively participated in his children's kindergarten class. Despite living in San Diego, Andy was always keeping in touch with family and friends from far away places, and would always make room in his schedule to chat with an old friend or far-away family member. Andy is survived by his wife Beth Anne Hawkey of San Diego, California; his six-year old twins Palmer and Paxton Nemec also of San Diego, California; his son Patrick Hawkey who attends the University of California at Santa Barbara, his son Jason Nemec who lives in San Antonio, Texas, his parents LaVon and Tony Nemec of Gillette, his brothers Kevin and Jason Nemec of Gillette, and his sisters Toni Marjerison of Columbus, Montana and Bobbi Mitzel of Sheridan, Wyoming.
